RELATION-TIPS

Part 2

Ephesians 4:29 says:

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

I. WE SPEAK TO BUILD, NOT TO BREAK

Proverbs 18:21

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Ephesians 4:15

talks about… “Speaking the truth in love…

Romans 12:10

10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

II. LISTENING IS THE CURRENCY OF INTIMACY

James 1:19

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

The bible says in Luke 6:45

“out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”

Philippians 2:3-4

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

III. BE VIGILANT OVER YOUR TONE

Colossians 4:6

6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

1. Communication is not just about what you say — it is about the spirit you say it in.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

2. THREE AREAS SATAN STRIKES MARRIAGE

Genesis 3:1 & 4

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You[a] shall not eat of any tree in the garden’? & 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

3. SATAN STRIKES THROUGH MISCOMMUNICATION

Ephesians 4:26–27

“Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry… do not give the devil a foothold.”

Amos 3:3

“Can two walk together unless they agree?”

Colossians 3:13

13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Proverbs 15:1 says,

“A gentle answer turns away wrath…”

Matthew 12:37

For it is by your words that you will not be guilty and it is by your words that you will be guilty.”

Ephesians 5:33

calls husbands to love and wives to respect — both expressed primarily through words.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:18

that God has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

IV. THE RESTORATION COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

Galatians 6:1–2

1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Proverbs 27:5-6 NLT

5 An open rebuke is better than hidden love! 6 Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.

Proverbs 25:11

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

Matthew 5:23–24

teaches us to pursue reconciliation before continuing in worship.
