BRING THE CHILDREN TO JESUS

Matthew 19:13–14

"Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Joshua 24:15

“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

QUESTION 1: WHAT MESSAGE DO WE SEND WHEN CHURCH IS OPTIONAL BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS MANDATORY?

Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

QUESTION 2: HOW DO PARENTS ACCIDENTALLY “HINDER” THEIR CHILDREN FROM COMING TO JESUS?

2 Timothy 1:5

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice…”

QUESTION 3: HOW IMPORTANT IS THE COMMUNITY WE CHOOSE FOR OUR CHILDREN?

Proverbs 13:20

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”

1 Corinthians 15:33

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

QUESTION 4: WHAT IF MY CHILD SAYS, “I DON'T WANT TO GO TO CHURCH”?

QUESTION 5: WHAT IF SPORTS OR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES REGULARLY CONFLICT WITH CHURCH?

Matthew 6:33

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness…”

QUESTION 6: WHAT ARE PRACTICAL THINGS PARENTS CAN BEGIN DOING RIGHT NOW?

Psalm 78:4

We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.

QUESTION 7: “WHAT DOES SUCCESSFUL PARENTING ULTIMATELY LOOK LIKE?”

Psalm 78:5-7

He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;

1. THEIR FAITH — Who are they becoming in Christ?

2. THEIR EDUCATION — How are they developing what God has placed within them?

3. THEIR COMMUNITY — Who are they becoming because of the people around them?
