MENS 252 WEEK 6
The Discipline of a 252 Disciple
My Thoughts (Devotional by Pastor Peter)
My Thoughts (Devotional by Pastor Peter)
Devotional Summary
The battle for a man’s life often begins in his mind.
Our thoughts either move us toward faith, obedience, and breakthrough—or hold us back through fear, insecurity, and comparison. Scripture teaches that real transformation happens when God changes the way we think (Romans 12:2).
The enemy may not be able to take what God has promised you, but he will try to keep you from stepping into it by attacking your thoughts.
Throughout Scripture, we see a pattern:
Caleb believed God despite the giants
Peter trusted Jesus beyond his experience
The woman with the issue of blood believed before she received
Before breakthrough, there was a thought of faith.
The challenge for us is to take our thoughts captive, reject comparison, and align our minds with God’s truth.
1. Transformation Begins With Renewed Thinking
Key Scripture: Romans 12:2
Point: A man’s life changes when his thinking changes.
The world teaches:
Fear
Comparison
Doubt
Self-reliance
But God renews our minds so we can walk in His will.
Many men live stuck between two thoughts:
“I think I can” vs. “I know I can’t.”
Faith grows when we choose to believe what God says over what fear says.
Discussion Question:
Where in your life do you need God to renew your thinking right now?
2. Insecurity and Comparison Can Hold You Back
Key Scripture: Numbers 13–14
Point: The Israelites weren’t defeated by giants—they were defeated by their mindset.
They saw themselves as:
Small
Weak
Unworthy
Comparison still does the same today.
When you compare your calling, progress, or purpose to someone else’s, you can lose confidence in what God is doing in your life.
Discussion Question:
How has insecurity or comparison tried to hold you back from stepping into what God has for you?
3. Faith-Filled Thoughts Lead to Breakthrough
Key Scriptures: Luke 5:4–6, Mark 5:25–34, 2 Corinthians 10:4–5
Point: Where a thought comes from determines where it leads.
Peter acted on Jesus’ word—and saw breakthrough
The woman believed—and was healed
We are called to take every thought captive
God-given thoughts lead to:
Obedience
Breakthrough
Healing
Victory
Discussion Question:
What thought have you been entertaining that needs to be rejected?
What truth from God do you need to replace it with?
Action Challenges for the Week
1. Capture one negative thought daily
When fear, insecurity, comparison, or doubt enters your mind:
Identify it
Write it down
Replace it with God’s truth
2. Refuse comparison—pursue alignment
Instead of measuring your life against others, ask:
“Lord, am I aligned with You?”
3. Take one step of faith
Choose one area where fear has held you back—whether in:
Spiritual leadership
Prayer
Repentance
Family
Finances
Obedience
And take one intentional step forward this week.
