MENS 252 WEEK 5 | Pastor Nick Huerta
MENS 252 WEEK 5
The Discipline of a 252 Disciple
Steward the Temple
Scripture:
Genesis 1:26–30
John 10:10
Luke 10:19
1 Corinthians 6:19–20
Core Truth
Dominion starts spiritually—but it shows up practically.
If we don’t steward our lives—especially our bodies—we will drift into defeat.
Key Thought:
We often forget that we already have the authority God gave us.
The Reality We All Face
At the start of a new season, we come in strong:
We’re going to get closer to God
We’re going to grow in the Word
We’re going to pursue new opportunities
We’re going to do what’s best for our lives
We’re going to get healthy
We’re going to save money
We’re going to grow personally
All good things.
But somewhere along the way, opposition comes.
And the enemy creeps in through:
Discouragement
Anxiety
Depression
Daily stress
Instead of pushing forward, we begin to tolerate what’s comfortable.
We fall back into convenience.
We choose what feels good instead of what is right.
1. You Were Created with Dominion
Point: Dominion is your identity—not something you earn.
God has already given you authority over:
Fear
Temptation
Your past
Truth: The enemy’s goal is to make you feel powerless.
You don’t need more power—you need to use the power you already have.
Group Discussion:
Where have you been feeling powerless lately?
What is one area you’ve been tolerating instead of taking authority over?
2. Stop Living by Excuses
Point: Excuses don’t protect you—they hold you back.
The issue isn’t knowing—it’s doing.
Comfort is often the enemy of your calling
Excuses protect your pride but delay your progress
Every excuse is a decision to stay the same
Truth: Nothing changes until you do.
Group Discussion:
What’s one excuse you’ve been making lately?
Where are you choosing comfort over growth?
3. Steward the Temple
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
Point: Your body is not yours—it’s God’s temple.
What you do physically reflects what you value spiritually
Stewardship reveals your priorities
Key Question:
Are you treating your body like:
An assignment?
Or a source of comfort?
Takeaway:
If God lives in it, you should take care of it.
Group Discussion:
If your daily habits were visible, what would they say about your values?
How are you currently treating your body?
4. Discipline Builds the Man
Scripture:
1 Timothy 4:8
Luke 16:10
Galatians 5:22–23
Point: Discipline is not just physical—it’s spiritual.
Private habits shape public results
Self-control is evidence of God working in you
Truth: Private discipline produces public strength.
Group Discussion:
Who are you when no one is watching?
What private habits are:
Strengthening you?
Weakening you?
5. Remember the Price
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:20
Point: Jesus paid for all of you—not just your soul.
Your life carries purpose, not permission
Stewardship is a response to the cross
Fire Point:
The cross gave your life purpose—don’t waste it on comfort.
Group Discussion:
Does your lifestyle reflect the price Jesus paid?
What would change if you truly lived like you belong to God?
